I saw on "http://chefandsteward.com/ask-the-chef/" a nice way to use the footer - how did he do that? Is it coded in hand or is it some kind of rss fedd?

Yes, they have to change them manually.

But they've made a fundamental mistake: the originals of the displayed thumbnails are huge files (2832x4256 pixels or vv, 3.6MB each), so the page takes too long to load; plus bad browsers or browser versions may not take heed if you rely on the Image widget for downsizing.
