I bought my own domain but it's showing up as Go Daddy, please help!!

  1. I bought my own domain directly through WordPress (www.holycowmusicpress.com) last year, and it has been doing great since then. In September when it was time to renew it I paid the renewal fee right away. This morning when I logged on to the site to check it out, it just shows up as godaddy.com. I even tried going to holycowpress.wordpress.com, and it still showed up as Go Daddy.

The other day I tried to install WordPress onto my computer for the site but it just came up as a completely new site when I finished, this seems unrelated but I was wondering if this might have had anything to do with it.

I need help on this immediately, any help will be very much appreciated!!

The blog I need help with is holycowmusicpress.com.

  2. You are almost certainly asking this question on the wrong forum as WordPress intalls are for self-hosted sites using WordPress.org. Have a look here:

Read this for the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

    And then go to http://wordpress.org/support/

If I'm wrong - then my apologies and I'm sure someone will answer your query soon.

  3. absurdoldbird -
thank you for your response. When I made my website, it was on WordPress.com, not WordPress.org. I was a little confused about how to set up WordPress on my computer and didn't realize it would make an entirely new site. The other day I tried to install it though, and when I finished I saw that it was a completely new site so I just closed it and forgot about it. I don't think it has anything to do at all with my website that I have on WordPress.com.

  4. A whois shows the site as registered through WordPress.COM (Wild West Domains) but the name servers are pointing to Godaddy.

Is your Domain Mapping also current? Domain Registration and Domain name registration are two different items and charges. Did you also renew the mapping?

    Or ask the staff: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
