Hi @timethief - thanks for taking the time to help me.
I am using TOR and TOR Browser as I take security and identity protection very seriously.
There is no way I will change to a more compatible browser at the expense of security. - I'd also recommend bloggers to use it if they publish politically sensitive posts or live in countries/regions that are censored (e.g. PRC, Iran).
WP used to show stats using the Firefox extension to its browser. The Firefox browser has been shown to be security impaired, so it has been dropped by TOR recently. Now it runs with its own TOR browser.
WP has just announced it is accepting bitcoin (a crypto currency) for payment to make upgrades to domains that use the WP script. Bitcoin is used to provide anonymity and to work in censored regions of the world, where paypal and credit/debit cards are not accepted. It seems counter-intuitive that WP is offering users a way to pay in encrypted currency securely and then not offering these same users full functionality to blog using secure encryption.
Is it not possible that WP developers could write a basic stats page which does not require the gravitar gateway for those users who are using secure connections? Users on mainstream browsers could use the standard gateway and a stripped-down option could be used by censored users. Not sure if the reason for it not displaying is due to java or another unsecure graphic which will reveal the users identity and rumble TOR web use to the authorities.
A work-around would be most welcomed.
Thanks again for your time and help.
