i can't post anything right now on my wordpress.com blog...

  1. my post links are no longer working today in either chrome nor firefox. are you aware of any current issues preventing wordpress.com users from posting right now?...

The blog I need help with is weehonker.wordpress.com.

  2. There are no such issues I'm aware of. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

If you are, please do these:
    (1) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

    (2) Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654

    (3) Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    (4) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If you are not successful let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

  3. P.S. I clicked random links in your blog using Firefox 22 and they worked for me.

  4. hmmm... i'm not sure what's going on then, but thanks for your responses. :)

all seemed fine earlier this morning - but when i returned this afternoon to post something, none of my posting links worked anymore...

when i hover over let's say the "photo" posting button, i can see my mouse's pointer on the screen turn to a gloved hand holding one finger up as if to "click", but when i do click, nothing happens at all.

i've also tried in a fresh install of the latest opera browser with no added rubbish installed on it, yet still no posting links work. guess i'll just try again tomorrow... lol *shrug*

thanks again for your time. happy 4th o' july - if it applies to you! ;)

I am having the same problem. I have cleared the cache and done the other things that you suggested, but I still cannot post. The posting links are all dead.

  6. its now been 24 hours since i reported this issue, and none of my "post" links do anything when i click them. no response at all...

  7. i think that i've helped to isolate this problem, as i have found a "work-around". when i try to click on any of my "quick post" links, nothing happens and i cannot post. but if i go to my wordpress dashboard then click "posts", then "add new", i can post just fine. it is only the "quick post" links that have quit working for me. any solutions?...

  8. Hi there,
I'm sorry to say that the likelihood you can retrieve posts is zero if you created it here > quick post http://wordpress.com/#!/post/

If and only if a missing post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you can recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/

But if it was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.

Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.

Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.

  9. P.S. I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

  10. dude, this is the second time you have responded, but it appears that you are not comprehending what the problem i am having is...

    once again:

i can post 100% fine from the wordpress dashboard. however, none of my "quick post" links respond when being clicked. but its okay, since i figured out that i can at least post via the dashboard. ..

having the convenience of the quick post links was convenient, while it worked.

    thanks again for your time...

  11. Hi there,
I clearly understand you and that's why I tagged the thread for a Staff response.

The so-called "workaround" you refer to is to create a post on your blog's dashboard and that's a good choice as the auto-save will work there and there will be post revisions available if required.

Creating so called quick posts here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save does not work so if you lose a post there will be no post revision to revert to.

  12. @weehonker and @artecalifornia,

When I tested the quick post option on a Mac running Chrome 27 on both of your accounts, it's working for me, so I think it could be a browser issue. It would be very helpful for our team to be able to troubleshoot this issue if you could supply the following:

    1) The operating system/version and browser/version you are each using
    2) If anything changes when you try a different browser - and which ones you've tried.
    3) If logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your browser's cache, and logging back in makes any difference.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

In the meantime, you do have timethief's workaround, but I'd like to make sure that this feature is working for you again as well.

  13. thanks to you all for responding. this problem with the "quick post" panel now seems to be intermittent. that is, i tried it four times on four different "quick post" links. the links seemed to respond fine the first two tries, then it failed the third, and then worked again on my fourth panel refresh. very odd...

happy fourth to all y'all :)

  14. Hi weehonker,

Thanks for the update. If you can pinpoint anything that causes the problem to occur, please let us know, and please keep an eye on things.
