I can't upload old blog posts to my blog

  1. I've been using my blog with wordpress system on a private website for several years, and recently I decided to give up that domain and move it to wordpress.com. I downloaded the posts from my old blog (it's a .xml file) but can't upload it successfully into my blog on wordpress.com: after I chose the file and uploaded, it says: "This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number"

I think I've done the downloading correctly, so I don't know what's missing. The problem is that the domain I bought is already gone, and my old blog doesn't exit anymore, so I can't go back and download again. If there's no solution to my problem, it means my around a hundred of posts for almost ten years would be gone forever, and that'll be a catastrophe for me.

I do need help on this, for I really want to take my posts and put them back to my blog. Or, is there any way that I can transfer my .xml file into a wxr one?I really appreciate if anybody can help, thanks!

The blog I need help with is ydwong.wordpress.com.

  2. There's a mistake on terminology: I mean "import", not upload. Thanks!
