I did not get the email for the Authorization code

  1. Hello,

    I am transfering my domain to another hosting. After clicked on "Email my code" for the Authorization code, i did not get any email. My domain has been more than 60 days old till the day i purchased it from wordpress.com.

    So i am wondering what is the case?

    Your fast reply is much appreciated since this is a urgent thing!

  2. Hi there,

    The authorization code is sent to the Administrative Contact's email address for your domain. You'll need to make sure you're checking the right email address. If it is a gmail address, also make sure that you're checking the Social tab of your inbox (as well as your spam folder), as messages can sometimes end up there.

    If you're still not getting the email, there is a way that you can download it directly. Let me know and I can walk you through it!

    Hi Limei - I just forwarded the latest email from Steve to you. Did you receive it? If you haven't already, please take a look at your Spam/Junk folders. Sometimes we caught in them.

    If you still didn't get his message, here's an alternative way to get your code:

    Please login to your domain manager under Store > Domains in your WordPress.com dashboard. There is help on how to do this on this page:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/

    Once logged in, click on Tools > Exportable lists. In there is a file which has “Auth Code” under the Description. This contains the Auth Code (EPP) and can be opened in a text editor or spreadsheet application capable of opening .csv (Comma Separated Values) files.

    Thanks a lot for your reply. You said that you have fowarded the latest email from Steve to me at [redacted by staff]. But that is really so strange that i still not got that email. Really got confused. :(

    I am now thinking just to make my domain pointed to my new Godaddy hosting IP instead of transfering it to godaddy hosting. It seems this will be easier and i just need to add the DNS. I found steps here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

    But still can't get it work.

    Hey Limei -

    I suspect we need to know the IP address that should be used for the GoDaddy web hosting. They probably sent you the IP address in a welcome message, or you can also call them to ask them for it.

    Can you find out what the IP address for your GoDaddy web hosting account is and then reply here with that information?

    The IP address that i need to make my domain dresslure.com pointed to is: 50.63.197.208.

    In fact, i have changed the nameserver info in wordpress domain manager.
    ns65.domaincontrol.com
    ns66.domaincontrol.com (These two nameserver info are from Godaddy).

    But in Godaddy---Web Hosting, it is still saying "
    Your domain isn't pointed to our servers".

    And when i clicked on the button "Show me How", it says "
    1> Log into your domain registrar (where you bought it).
    2> Update your DNS (A record) to point to your hosting account.
    New A record: 50.63.197.208
    3> Return to your hosting account and check DNS again.

    I am really confused...

    Kindly help me out!

    Your A record is already pointing to 50.63.197.208.

    You can now check your Hosting Account's name servers with these steps from GoDaddy: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/6795/finding-your-hosting-accounts-nameservers

    Yes after i sent the last message to you. I just found the issue and i have already updated the A record to point to Godaddy IP address: 50.63.197.208. And now i am waiting for its updating, seems will take 24-48hrs to take effect.

    But i am wondering whether you changed my password to login wordpress.com cpanel? I just can't login with my previous user and pass.

    It says "The username or password you entered is incorrect". But i am sure it is correct.

    Hi Limei - You should update that password whenever you log into your Domain Manager. It's part of the steps listed here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#domain-manager-login

    And I hope this fixes your domain issues :)

    And i think it may take a while for they unlock my account. I just tried to login but saw the same alerting "This account is locked. Please contact Customer Support".

    And i will try in 2 or 3 hrs to see whether this is doable.
