I 'do' have a tag and category of the same name -?

  1. Hello all! A quick question, If I may. Not long ago I had occasion to be in the forum here, dealing with something or other, at which time I learned that you can't have a tag and a category of the same name. Unless I'm mis-remembering that. Because I just now thought I'd do one of my infrequent coffee posts, which I always place in my Coffee category. I thought, "Better not use the tag coffee," without realizing that that had never been a problem before. I used the tag 'the bean' instead. Then I thought maybe there's a way to change the tag name. There seemed to be. Now I don't know what I did. Additionally, I see that I do indeed have Coffee (just like that, with a capital C) as both a category and a tag and it works fine that way.

    Is that normal?

The blog I need help with is arrby.wordpress.com.

  2. What you remember is that you were advised never to create a Category and a Tag with the same words as when you do that gives rise to unnecessary and confusing duplication. Search engines treat Categories and Tags in the same manner.

  3. Then I thought maybe there's a way to change the tag name. There seemed to be. Now I don't know what I did.

You can edit your Tags here > Dashboard > far left column click "Posts" and then click "Tags".

  4. I'll have to experiment. I guess I just got lucky with the tab/category for Coffee. But I see your point. I guess the damage is done though if I can't change my Coffee tag into something else, globally. Well, Unless I want to go through all of my coffee posts and manually change the tags. Actually, That doesn't so awfully difficult.

    Later...
