I got a security certificate warning about copromote

  • I published a post and as it was publishing I got a security warning in my Safari browser that said that the security certificate for headliner.fm issued by GoDaddy had expired on Saturday 2 August 2014.

It asked me whether I wanted to cancel or continue.

I continued and the URL that came up was this:

    https://copromote.com/blog_tracker.php?tsid=fr_wp_pp

I looked into this and I now understand that headliner is the old name for copromote. That much is clear.

I checked my security settings and I have not ever authorised copromote as a connected application.

Why did the warning come up?
Will it come up next time I publish a post?
    What happened?

    Thanks

  • Hi David,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. This should indeed no longer be an issue. Copromote was having some issues with their SSL and they have been removed as being a partner for the time being.

    So sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Thanks for the explanation, Ash.

Because I don’t have copromote activated, why would they show up at all when I published – valid SSL certificate or not?

  • I’m told that there was a module which was being loaded in the background that called one of their URLs in what we call the “Post-Post” (the screen which shows after you have published a post). It would have been because of that that you got the error which you’re describing.
