I need to cancel or delete the domain photosynthesismediaarts.com

  1. Hello,
I am to contact you if I wish to delete the domain photosynthesismediaarts.com,
which according to the instructions I have seen on WordPress.com so far, I need to before I can delete the associated blog.

I can't unfortunately continue hosting with WordPress.com this year for financial reasons, so please help me understand how I can delete the domain before proceeding further.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Best,

    Mark Gould

The blog I need help with is photosynthesismediaarts.com.

  3. Hi Mark,

The domain photosynthesismediaarts.com doesn't expire until 5 July 2014, and you may continue to blog on WordPress.com without purchasing/renewing any upgrades.

I'd be happy to cancel it, but since you still have the better part of the year left, I'm reluctant to do so based on what you've mentioned. If you wish, you can keep the domain for now and just set your site to private if you don't wish to maintain it for now.

I also noticed that you have a separate site with a custom domain and the premium bundle, and those are set to expire later in October. Again, you can keep that site without renewing, but if you allow that domain to expire, you run the risk of losing it.

Let me know how you wish to proceed.

  4. Hello,

Thanks for the reply. If there won't be any charges to continue the photosynthesismediaarts.com blog once the premium upgrade expires then I would like to keep it. Just to make sure, since the upgrade is set to expire I assume that means there won't be an auto renewal set to charge me, that I might also need to cancel?

I'm surprised to hear that I have a second site and domain on WordPress.com? I know that previously I used another domain (indiemediachannel.com) which appears to be re-directing to the newer domain, is that what you're referring to?

(p.s. - I didn't realize I was posting to a public forum, intending to send a message directly to support. My oversight, and no problem, just that the instructions appeared to be a bit confusing.

    Thanks again,

    Mark

  5. Yes, once you have created a blog on WordPress.com, it will remain intact whether or not the associated upgrades expire. If you have a custom domain, when that expires the address will revert to the regular site.wordpress.com address.

As for your other upgrade, I misspoke slightly. You have an upgrade and a custom domain associated with indiemediachannel.com which is set to expire, but on second look I realize that those upgrades are associated with the same WordPress.com site as photosynthesismediaarts.com. If you don't want to use indiemediachannel.com any longer, you can allow that domain to expire and your site (and the domain photosynthesismediaarts.com) will continue to work as usual.

The domain indiemediachannel.com is a nice one, and could be useful for another site, so you should be certain you wish to discard it, because if it expires, someone else may very well purchase it. I just mention that in case you might have a future use for it.

  6. Okay thanks. I appreciate the thought, indiemediachannel.com is a nice domain, and will serve me well in the future, so yes, I'd like to keep it. Since I purchased that from WordPress.com, how do I go about keeping it, and being able to use it, perhaps at another host, in the future?

    Regards,

    Mark

  7. I have "unbundled" indiemediachannel.com from the Premium bundle purchase, meaning you can now renew it without having to renew the Premium bundle. If you decide you want to renew the whole bundle instead, I can restore it so you can renew everything for one price.

The domain expires on October 24, so you have a couple of weeks to renew it before it expires.

You can renew it here: https://imchannel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

  8. Thanks very much for your help!

    Mark

  9. You're very welcome! I'm going to close this thread, but please feel free to post another one if you have further questions.
