I really need help with this subject, re-blog not showing up on custom domain?

  1. Look, please forgive me for being anal here. I now know why I have far more likes than views. Ansd yes, my rss is set to not broadcast a full article.

Anyways, I pegged this guy as a spammer and there's a chance I could be wrong. If I'm wrong, I have no problem writing an apology post.

I'm sorry to come off as a drama queen, I just don't like being lied to and used to promote other's blog who are merely just using my posts to leave a link either by a false like (More likes than views) or re-blogging a post just to have their comment left as a link to their blog.

Please reply if you know what's going on...

This guy re-blogged my article and it never showed up on his blog. He has a custom domain here. I called him out on it and here is our conversation:

I’ll leave your comment here to expose you as a spammer! You re-blogged two of my articles on two different websites of yours, and guess what? The re-blog is no where to be found! That tells me you reblogged it just to delete it to get traffic to your website!

I didn’t delete anything, I have no idea why it didn’t show up. I have a redirect from “joeseeberblog” to “joeseeber.com, maybe that’s why it’s not posting.

Feel free to leave the comment up, doesn’t offend at all.

You had 2 domains on WordPress, if you have a website hosted on another server such as, “bluehost”, “hostgator” and you want to use WordPress then you have to purchase a redirect and such. That’s where I think the screw up is.

If you’re being honest, I would be hot on the heels of wordpress, because you look like a spammer and it’s hurting your image. I’ve caught far too many “Like” spammers. And this smacks of a cunning attempt to get readers to your blog. How do I know this? Take it from a former attention whore who has been blogging for years. I just never acted on what I know to trick people just to get readers.

I’m not hosted on WordPress server, but I use WordPress because I like the jetpack and the features they have. I had to create an account then purchase a redirect in order to use the WordPress features. So it’s a glitch in the system.

You can go ahead and tell WordPress.

You’ve been blogging for years, there are many ways to generate traffic on the internet other then spamming. Have you ever looked into seo, articles directories, social networks, forums, video (youtube) etc to generate traffic?

you can edit this part out if you want, notice all the other traffic sources I have coming to this blog post.

I’ve been blogging for years, I do it full time. I have my blog connected to other blog networks and example on my site is,”network blogs” on the side of my page on the widget.

Hey, if I’m in the wrong, I’m sorry. You stated your case for the world to see. I will never edit yours or anyone’s comments.

Maybe wordpress has changed since 2010.

I’ll leave everything posted as is.

Again, I’m sorry if I’m wrong.

And yes, of course I have heard of seo stuff, forums and youtube. I knew and know how to be creative on how to get traffic. I’m just no longer interested. I would rather write a blog or post blogs from my archive and go live life off the web than to play around groping for readers. I want to be liked for who I am and read for content people find interesting. I don’t have time to play around with seo stuff. It never benefited my style of writing anyhow. :D

Anyways, you stated your case, let the world figure it out. I’ll leave what you said up un-cut.

You know, I will take the time to investigate this. If I’m wrong, it’s not beneath me to write a public apology.

I made the accusation, it’s only fair to investigate it myself.

    Do I sound unreasonable?

Think of it this way, a blogger pours their heart out and along comes people who don’t even read their articles just to get traffic to their blogs. That’s some real bogus dishonesty to stroke someones ego or what ever and use their articles as a stepping stone to promote an outside blog or website. That shit angers me to know end and I know it happens a LOT here.

    I’ll look into it.

    Peace

  2. Actually, it seems to me he's right and you're wrong, so you can mark this as Resolved.

  3. raincoaster, are you a staff member or a wordpress tech? That's who I need to hear it from. I don't mean to sound condesending. I never heard of linking a website hosted on a separate webserver to wordpress.com in such a way one can re-blog a post.

  4. I'm a volunteer who's been here seven years. If you'd like to wait for staff to respond, you're welcome to do so.

  5. Many people do the equivalent of Reblog of an article (short / partial excerpt and link back to the original ) - many do it to pass on an interesting article to people that visit their site - is that to build traffic? - yes - does that build traffic to your site? - yes since people need to visit your site to read the whole article -

the spam thieves are the ones that take the whole article and post it - sometimes with a link back to your site other times no link - but either way the whole article can be read on their site with no need to visit your site

For instance - I have links to my articles show up in help forums from time to time when one of my articles helps solve a problem being talked about on the forum

  6. raincoaster, can you atleast fill me in on some details how things work? Is what he is saying how it works?

  7. Auxclass, what I'm refering to is a very subtle thing. It's mainly the "Like" spammers that get my goad. It's so easy to pick a topic in the global tags section and go staright down the line and hit "Likes" and "Re-blogs".

In my opinion, that shouldn't even be in the global tags section.

I hacve tracked users doing this, going down the line liking posts they have never read.

It also shows in the emails when 2 or 3 articles of over a thousand words are read all in under a minute.

I just don't like dishonesty in that way...

If people can't get readers based on merit, well....

  8. The spam likes have been a sore spot with many in the forum for some time - there have been several long discussions about the problem and sadly I have seen no solution at this time

  9. @auxclass (Big smiles) Thank God! I thought I was the only one who noticed it in that fashion as far as like spams go! lol The re-blog thing (Or possibly) is a new one on me though.

The guy took the time to raise a good argument and I may just delete everything if this isn't resolved out of fear of damaging someone's reputation...

  10. One click Reblog has also been a sore point with many also - I don't mind the short note and a link back to my site even if it is done with a one click thing - the whole article taken does upset me -

  11. @auxclass I don't much let that stuff get to me. I don't expect writing security on the web... But I understand your point. :)
