I want to DELETE my account.

  1. I want to delete my account. Not just leave it inactive. I want all my details such as my account name, containing my surname, to be erased. Not stored however invisibly on a server somewhere. What kind of website doesn't let you "unsubscribe" to your account??

  2. Username accounts are not deleted at WordPress.com and you will find the reasoning for that here http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ but please note the following:

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

  3. What kind of website doesn't let you "unsubscribe" to your account??

Most websites I've been to do not allow full account deletion. Usually it's for some technical reason as deletions can cause 'holes' in databases.

That's why I never use my full name on any website for any reason unless it's a secured government or financial institution site.

  4. Really? Ive never come across it before. In my experience theres always some way you can close your account even if its tricky. Or, at least(!), delete all(!!!!!) personal information. Ive changed my email adress now and deleted everything that had my account name in it, and my username. But I still had to reset my password by logging n with the above username (bajkonurbob) and a password change that was sent to my OLD adress... Wat the h***???
