I want to have only 1 of my 8 categories publish on my main page, help?

    Hi all,
    I have 8 categories at the minute and all posts appear on my page, I would like 7 of the categories to be seen only if the link on the right is clicked on.
    I only want what is in the poetry category to appear on the main page ... is this possible, and if so how is it done?
