  2. A quick search of the Support pages yields this:

  3. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install plugins, upload third-party themes or edit templates or themes. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

There is no upgrade that you can purchase form WordPress.com that provides FTP access, and the ability to install plugins. To use plugins you will have to hire a web host and set up a self hosted WordPress.org install.

No I'm sorry but we Volunteers are not aware of any chatbox widgets that can be used on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

  4. Plugins are tools used to extend the functionality of the WordPress platform. However, they are only applicable to self-hosted blogs and web sites using the WordPress.org software. Plugins are not permitted here at WordPress.com for various security reasons.
