I wish to disable Tag Display

    I'm using the following template:

    Theme Name: Digg 3 Column
    Theme URI: http://www.wpdesigner.com
    Description: Digg-like 3 column theme with two sidebars and a customizable header.
    Version: 1.0.2
    Author: Small Potato
    Author URI: http://www.wpdesigner.com/

    Now, I'm a happy camper with the addition of tagging, but I don't wish to display them at all, not in the multiple post page or in the single post page. I'd like to know which line of code in the stylesheet I have to modify to block the display. Right now it only displays in the single post pages but I want to completly remove it's display. Unless there's an option in the Dashboard I completly missed while going over them since the upgrade.

    Any help will be much appreciated.

    If you don't use tags, they won't display. Just use the normal categories instead. If you don't like those either, don't use them.

    If you want to have them but not display them, you'd need the CSS upgrade to hide them. Do you have it? Do you already know how to use CSS? Don't buy the upgrade if you don't know how to use it.

    I want to use them (tags are wonderful toys), just not display them for aesthetics.

    When I read the stylesheet (Yes I have the upgrades) I find no OBVIOUS line of code the says TAG or CATEGORY etc. Hence why I'm asking for some help from the pros before I screw up my blog :(

    I recommend patience. It's the weekend so it's not likely you're going to get experienced css types dropping into the forum to answer questions. Maybe tomorrow you will fare better. :)

    as i understand it, in themes that display tags (Sandbox doesn't currently), it is included in the post meta data. If you set that not to display, of course, then all your meta goes away (author, category, etc.).

    Time, yes I understand. Only lunatics like me redo their templates coming back from a night out with friends lol :)

    Judy, if I can't change it I guess I'll live with it but I hope it can be changed.

    Judy's right. On your theme, tags, categories and your front-page comment links are all lumped together in .postinfo, so if you hide one you'll hide them all.

    I think it's unlikely that staff will be persuaded to put an extra span around the tags, but it wouldn't hurt to ask them nicely. I doubt you'll be the only person wishing to style tags differently from the other info, and since you've paid for the CSS upgrade you ought to be allowed to do so.

    Wank, thanks for the intel. What kind of irritates me, or well one of the downsides of WP, compared to lets say Blogger is that you have to pay to have access to the stylesheet and still you don't have complete access to the display options, such as blogger which gives you complete control, for free. (But I still prefer WP for a whole bunch of other reasons - pros and cons ya know)

    I am sorry about this but all I can do is confirm that you have been given the right info - what you want can not be achieved. Why on earth Automattic have allowed text headers which are uncontained in any kind of semantic container - only they can tell us. Particularly as generally they use about three times as much markup as is needed.

    In your css:

    .postinfo {display:none}

    Of course that will suppress your categories as well, because there's no explicit class for tags. Shame.
