I would like to cancel my account and get a refund

  1. Ibought the value bundle and I am not happy with it at all. I thought I could be able to upload HTML files from my Iweb and I am unable to do that. This site is way more complicated than I am able to handle. I paid the 99 dollars for the site and all I want to keep is the URL registration please. Do you have a phone number to actually speak to a human?????????
    Blog url: http://dragonflywingsinc.wordpress.com/

  2. I DONT WANT TO POST TO FORUMS I WANT TO SPEAK TO A HUMAN BEING FOR GOD SAKES@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I am a human being, as are all of the others here.

Your bundle included a domain registration.

Unfortunately, we can only refund the domain registration portion within 48 hours.

If you'd like, I can cancel and refund the rest of the bundle for $73.

As for the domain, if we cancel the domain, it can take up to several weeks, and we can't guarantee that your domain will be available to you again once canceled.

If you want to keep using your domain but you don't want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don't have to cancel it.

Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page.

  4. Ok this is why it would be nice to be able to pick up a phone and speak with someone. This is so frustrating to type something back and forth.
    1. I would like to keep the domain name for my site DragonflywingsINC.org as I am a nonprofit for cancer patients and would like to keep that.
    2. I would like to be able to use that domain name on GoDaddy or some other site that is easier to use.
    3. I am not sure exactly what I purchased for that 99 dollars but as a nonprofit I cannot afford to throw money out the window.
I have a beautiful site I've created using iWeb and I thought I could upload it to my wordpress.com account but I am now finding out that is not the case. I need to be able to use something that is a little more user friendly and I am finding this site NOT to be that.
    I appreciate the help

  5. I looked where you said. I want to KEEP my domain registration and name (dragonflywingsinc.org) NOW how do I take that someplace else? A redirect that I NOW have to pay 13 dollars to do?

  6. 1 and 3. I have canceled and refunded your bundle minus domain as requested, for the total of $73 ($26 is the price of the registration without the bundle).

    2. Once you have established hosting on another provider, you can direct your domain to them by changing your domain's current name servers to theirs. Just following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

  7. You don't need to pay us to redirect the domain, changing the name servers is free.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

  8. Ok

  9. Ok now I changed the DNS but it is still pointing to the wordpress blog. How do I switch it to my external hosting provider at go daddy?

  10. dragonflywingsinc.org is properly pointed elsewhere. (though you might want to double-check those name servers with GoDaddy, they don't look right)

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, you may also receive a warning message in your browser about "redirect errors". Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records. Please rest assured that everything is proceeding normally with your domain.

  11. Thank you for your response. I've called go daddy and updated the servers. However, my site is still showing up on automattic and not godaddy how do I change that? When you type in dragonflywingsinc.org it isn't going where it is supposed to

  12. who is automattic?????

  13. WordPress.com is a product of Automattic, Inc.

As mentioned above, it can take up to 72 hours for the domain change to propagate to your ISP's DNS caches.

  14. Hi there Macmanx,

I am unfortunately also battling with wordpress and would like a refund on the 99 dollars I paid. I have been battling for days now and am just not a happy camper... Please could you let me know how to go about doing this. ( I too would like to keep my domain name)
I suppose it's just not for everyone.

    Thanks,

    Tracey.

  15. I would like my $99 refunded as I have automatically be redirected to post my site FOR FREE on wordpress and have been desperately been e-mailing for days for someone to CALL ME or simply contact me via e-mail for help. Your support is horrible and if I am going to do this blind I want my money back and have had no direction whatsoever how to even do that. I have even purchased a premium theme and would like my money back for that. Please contact me so I can actually get my website up sometime soon.

  18. I want to talk to a HUMAN BEING.. this does not completely answer my question!!!! worst customer service EVER

  19. Just to be clear- I paid my $99 to use wordpress.com... NOW all of a sudden I have 2 wordpress.com and wordpress.org blogs with my domain that I purchased elsewhere that I am hosting privately at another site. if you actually had people to talk to me it would be a lot easier to explain my situation so that I am figure this out and get the help that I need. not all people need cookie cutter support forum answers. personal attention might be needed off a private forum

  20. and to be clear I wanted to use wordpress.com because I thought it would be easier for me to use... apparently none of your services are helpful at all- now I have 2 blogs for one website and I have been doing twice the work with nothing to show- no support at all for my money

  21. I want to talk to a HUMAN BEING.. this does not completely answer my question!!!! worst customer service EVER

    There is no phone support.

Are you suggesting that I am less than a human being?

Are you suggesting you are incapable of following written instructions?

You purchased a bundle and this is applicable to your situation http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundle

As you have purchased an upgrade you can contact Staff directly in writing by using this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  22. I am saying this is not helpful and very impersonable. As far as all the other websites out there as for as confusing and hard as it is for many of us to put our lives outthere- you could at least put yourself out there for at little help and reassurance and peace of mind. I, personally am going at this alone- and all the other websites have provided a PERSON to help me through this. But since I have gotten to this point- I have been STUCK with stock answers. I might as well google an answer- which I have and that has only gotten me so far. I think of myself as a fairly competent person, but this is something that is totally foreign to me. A simple reassurance from someone who knows what they are doing might make the process a little better. That's all i am saying. I mean really- who doesn't have customer service? Obviously people who don't like people? I am really lost and need a person to help me.

  23. And I don't want to have to spend more money to have to talk to people- that's an awful business model. Maybe if I could talk to someone I would spend more money

  24. As you have purchased an upgrade you can contact Staff directly in writing by using this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  25. that's how I got here

  26. Well then it looks like you need to follow instructions I posted above for refunds and canceling a bundle, doesn't it?

  27. Thanks for the help... I will find some real life person to help with what I need. You have great people skills! Thanks!

  28. Hi @traceypotgieter, I see that you've successfully canceled and refunded the eligible portion of your Value Bundle via Store > My Upgrades. Let me know if you need further assistance with that!

  29. Hi @loneraft, I am checking in with you to see if you are all set with your refund. I see in our system that you were successfully able to cancel and refund your purchases via Store > My Upgrades as per @timethief's suggestions. Please note that it takes 1-2 weeks for your refund to post. If you are looking for resources to learn WordPress.com, this is a good place to start: http://learn.wordpress.com

I noticed that this thread became adversarial and would like to remind you all about our Code of Conduct - please keep all future conversations professional and focused on the technical matter at hand.

  30. I apologize that it became "adversarial" however I wouldn't quite call it a "conversation" it was more like talking to a robot. I can tell by reading through the thread that I am not the only one who feels this way. As a novice blogger this has only made my experience setting up my blog more frustrating. Having actual HUMAN contact over the phone might have been more comforting rather than running in circles over the website and waiting for hours to find in a stock answer in a public thread. Non-professional and frustrating
