IE problem with "sidebar" in customised "Contempt 1.0" theme

  1. check out http://escpeapalumni.wordpress.com
    design is based on Contempt 1.0, got the CSS option, and edited the following lines:

    #sidebar ul ul,#sidebar ul ol,#sidebar ul div {
    border:0;
    }

    #sidebar h2 {
    background-color:#D47800;
    }

    Basically the header of the sidebar-boxes should appear in orange and the blue border line of contempt should disappear. Works fine in Firefox, unfortunately the boxes drop to the bottom of the page in IE.

    Any ideas?

    Best
    Moritz

    BTW is there any way to change the bottom page message of the Contempt theme?

  2. BTW is there any way to change the bottom page message of the Contempt theme?

    Afraid not. It's hardcoded into the theme files.

  3. Pity, because it is now a theme "based on" contempt 1.0. Anyway, any ideas about that IE behaviour?

  4. Your graphic http://dominix.dyndns.org/graphics/force.gif is 578 pixels wide in this post

    That's wider than the content area and forces the sidebar down. You can double check this by clicking though on the posts to see that it only occures with this specific post.

  5. Thanks a million, I initially copy-pasted text from an existing website and it contained a "line", which was too large (just as you found out). Got rid of it and it worked.

    Thanks a lot
    Moritz

  6. you can add the line
    #content {<br /> overflow: hidden;<br /> }

    and that will keep the problem from happening in the future. (too wide images will just be clipped along the right edge)
