If I set up a "warning" page on one blog, will it appear on all my blogs?

  1. I have more than one blog. On ONE OF THEM ONLY, I need to set up a "warning" page for underage readers. If I set up such a page, will it appear on all my blogs, or only on the one I'm trying to filter?
    Blog url: http://erinsromance.wordpress.com/

  2. Instead of setting up a warning page for underage readers, you need to mark your blog as mature. To do that, click on the title of your blog at the top left of its window and click the 'mark as mature' link.

  3. Each blog is independent of the others so the answer is "no". There is not waning you can post that will apply to more than one blog. You can set up a static front page.

There is only one main page for posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/ in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.
    Choice 1 static front page
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page
Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.
If you choose a static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

You can got to the front of your blog and click "report as mature" in the far left hand side the dropdown menu to report your blog to Staff.

  4. I appreciate the feedback. I've known for a long time about the "report as mature" option, but that option also keeps my blogs from being seen on search engines, right?

The "create a static page" option would at least be a fllter to stop underage readers for a tenth of a second before they see the blog anyway. My concern is the irate parent who may sue me for exposing their kid to homoerotic subjects or whatever. The excerpts from my books are not porn, but they are erotic.

I just don't want a static page to be in place on all by blogs, because I have three or four under the same account, but only one that is "mature."

No it does not affect appearance of your content in Google SERPs (search engine page results).

Each blog is independent of the others. There is no warning you can post that will apply to more than one blog. You can set up a static front page only on the blog that has mature content.

  7. I can assure you that search engines will still index you, because it is the responsibility of the parents to use the filter on their own computer. We had a 'mature' blog for erotic art, and the 'mature' made no difference in search engines. The only difference is that you don't appear in the WP tags, which is no great loss anyway as the search engines are the hub of it all.

  8. Folks, I am seriously impressed by your collective efforts to help me. I have studied your responses, and here is what I have decided to do:

I will set up a static page to my mature blog, warning of content inappropriate to those under 18. That page will also say something like, "If you reached this page while trying to access "Blah Blah" (erinsromance, etc.), click HERE where the "here" will be a clickable link to my other blog(s).

I am so all-thumbs on my blog that I've been afraid to really mess up and not be able to extricate myself, at a time when my erinsromance blog is just building a nice audience.

Now I know that if I mess up, I have a knowledgeable team who will help, and I thank you kindly. I have another question, which I will post on another block. Erin O'Quinn

  9. You're welcome. :)

  10. Folks, by accident I selected 3 of the same theme. Only the last one is my actual blog. How do I get rid of the others on the drop-down menu? I did this by mistake while trying to see if the theme looked good with my title; but I made it indelible, never-go-away by mistake!

This screw up can be seen on http://romancemanlove.wordpress.com/
where only the last one on the menu is my actual blog. Help! Thanks, Erin
