iframe embedding on WordPress.com - Possible with a premium upgrade?

  1. Hey guys. I understand iframe embedding isn't supported using WordPress.com basic. But is it possible if I upgrade to the $99 plan?

Also, I saw this tip pop up about embedding Google Docs:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-docs/

It seems to use iframe to embed Google Docs. What gives? I'm confused.

    Thanks for the help,
    Jesse

  2. Hi there, in general, ad hoc iframe embedding isn't supported under any of our upgrades, for security reasons.

We do allow iframes from specific pre-approved sources, such as Google Maps and Google Docs.

If you let me know specifically what you're trying to embed in an iframe I would be glad to investigate the possibilities for you. For some services, we provide a shortcode alternative to iframes. Thanks!

  3. Here is an example of an iframe I'd like to use:
    <iframe width="1024" height="576" src="http://earthengine.google.org/timelapse/player?c=http%3A%2F%2Fearthengine.google.org%2Ftimelapse%2Fdata&v=26.82339,-80.13865,10&r=.25&p=true" frameborder="0"></iframe>

My blog is focused on land use and real estate development issues, so I'll need to do a lot of embedding of Google Maps. Is there anyway to know whether a specific iframe source is supported?

Appreciate your help, and Happy 4th!
    Jesse

  4. Hi Jesse, thanks for the additional info.

We don't currently support Google Earth Engine time lapse embeds, but you could link to them instead.

My blog is focused on land use and real estate development issues, so I'll need to do a lot of embedding of Google Maps.

We have a guide here on how to embed from Google Maps:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/

Is there anyway to know whether a specific iframe source is supported?

The best way is to look for it using the search box at the top right in our support section: http://en.support.wordpress.com/

Just let me know if you need further help.

  5. Thank you!
