iFrame, Javascript is this possible?

  1. I am a member of a couple of fashion lookbook sites, where it is useful for me to put buttons on each post and script on the sidebar of my blog, but it isn't allowing. Also I want the facebook plugins (comments, activity feed) which is iframe and XFBML. I could put banners there, but it isn't really the same and a bit old school. Is it even possible for me to do this on wordpress.com? Thanks

The blog I need help with is memoirmode.com.

  2. Javascript and iframes are not allowed here for security reasons.

There is an extremely convoluted and complex workaround for iframes, but to me all the work (and the fact it doesn't work that well) makes the workaround not worth the effort.

  3. I see that you already have already enabled Facebook and other share buttons on your posts. If you wish you can post a Facebook badge. http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/
It you want both "share" and "like" buttons see this thread > http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/its-possible-facebook-share-and-like-buttonsat-the-same-time?replies=73

This is a multiuser blogging platform. For security reasons there is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs and we cannot install individual plugins. Also for security reasons the software here will strip out all Javascript code and iframes codes posted by users.

    G'evening. :)

  5. I'm wanting to run a flash photo gallery or any sort of gallery for that matter linked from my flickr. What is the best way to do this?

  6. Check out the comment by @airodyssey in this thread for your flickr slideshow solution.

  7. @memoirmode,
    http://shongjog.wordpress.com/2011/01/25/how-to-embed-iframe-widgets-in-a-wordpress-com-blog-%c2%a9-netty-gritty/

This is the tutorial for the "extremely convoluted and complex workaround for iframes" (as put by tsp). Currently this is the only method of adding iframe widgets is a wp.com blog.

Some bloggers who know this technique have already used it. You might like to try it out and see if it works for you...

And this post shows how to add a lot of different types of Flickr slideshows:

    All the best!

  8. Thankyou for the reply everyone, I will read through the links and see what I can do, the button I specifically want generates how many 'hypes' I have on one of the lookbook sites, which is more of an appearance attribute. I might download and host myself as I keep getting held back with things. thanks again
