iLivid ads are misleading

    Hi,

    Is there a way to manage which ads would appear in your blog? I'm fine with most ads but I don't like how ilivid is using tricks such as fake "Download" buttons to get visitors (there are also other variants). It would have been fine if they just directly advertise their product, but what they are currently doing is somehow insulting.

    I don't to support iLivid's marketing style and I would also feel bad if my readers fall for their tricks and suddenly install something they didn't expect.

    There's only one way to do that. It's purchasing an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade to eliminate all advertising from the blog.

    But ads is not the problem. Just one company, iLivid.

    I understand how ads work and how they help wordpress provide free blog hosting. I hope I made it clear that I have nothing against ads. That's potential revenue which is an incentive to many bloggers.

    "No Ads" is different from managing which ads will appear on your page. Some ads can lead to harmful links. For example, if you're not careful clicking ads generated by iLivid will lead you to downloading their software.

    The problem here is iLivid. And the solution I'm looking for is just to stop ads of iLivid from appearing in my blog.

    If you'll read this or google for terms "iLivid misleading", you'll undestand what I mean:

    Some even say that iLivid's software contains virus.

    But I can also see how such a feature is generally relevant. Ads add random content to your blog. While most ads are non offensive, there's still the possibility for content in ads to conflict with your blogs theme.

    Managing ads may be too much. But at least monitor and remove bad ads like iLivid.

    We do occasionally run ads in order to keep free services free. However ads of the nature you describe are not permitted in our advertiser's network.

    I did not see that ad when visiting the site. If you do see an offensive ad again, please make a screenshot and attach it to a reply to this message. We take this very seriously.

    Please note that it's possible for ads to appear in your browser that were not placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.

    Hi macmanx,

    Thanks for the helpful response. It will take a while though before I could get a screenshot because the ads from different companies rotate. I'll try to keep refreshing my blog until it appears, but during my free time.

    This is my first time to use support and I didn't know it's possible to attach screenshots. As of writing this, don't see any buttons for attaching/linking/embedding pictures while writing in this post box. So I might put a link instead or attempt using img HTML tags.

    Once you get the screenshot, you can upload it via Media -> Add New in your blog's Dashboard.

    Just let us know when it's there and we'll take a look.
