Illustratr theme footer

  1. The Illustratr theme offers a widget area that appears above the footer in a hidden panel: you click on the little triangle icon to expand and view the widgets. This is a cooI feature, but is it possible to have this footer widget panel "open" all the time, so the footer is always visible?

    I am using the Premium bundle, and I am confident with css, but not sure which element to target here and exactly how. Has anyone else done this successfully?

    The blog I need help with is baradenerowing.wordpress.com.

  2. CSS editing cannot be used to chnage the way any theme functions. It can be used only for appearance changes.

    Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
    No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. ... http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

  3. I was hoping to target the way the footer element is displayed....I dunno, but was imagining:
    #secondary {display: block; } or {visibility: visible;} if you get my logic.
    Am I barking up the wrong tree?

  4. I don't help with CSS editing. Staff or another Volunteer who does will respond to you as soon as they work their way forward to this thread.

  5. Hi. Has anyone had a chance to take a look at this query? I'm looking for a way to have the "hidden" footer area on the Illustratr theme "Open" by default, using CSS. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Hi there, to make the widget area display continuously, go to Appearance > Customize > CSS, delete all the informational text in that window, and paste in the following custom CSS.

    .widgets-wrapper {
        display: block !important;
    }
    .widgets-area .widget {
        opacity: 1 !important;
    }
    .widgets-trigger {
        display: none;
    }
    #secondary:after {
        display: none;
    }
  7. Thank you! You're a star!

    I am trying to but a link in the menu that opens the footer... Any ideas on how to use an anchor tag or something similar to accomplish this?

  10. @celebritycatalyst, since your topic is on a different subject, can I ask you to create a new thread in the CSS Forum and I'll watch for it and help you out. Many thanks in advance.

  11. To remove the footer from the Illustratr theme, what can I do?

  12. Hi @deniselutgens, you are not allowed to hide the WordPress.com and theme footer credits per our Terms of Service (#11). Even the VIP sites here at WordPress.com (CNN, Time, etc.) are required to keep the footer credits. See the Frequently Asked Questions on the Custom Design support page for more information.

    You are allowed to restyle the footer credits to better fit with your design as long as they remain readable. If you have the Custom Design Upgrade, you can also add text, like a copyright, to the footer credits. If you have the Custom Design upgrade and need help restyling or adding to the existing footer credits, post in the CSS Customization forum and our volunteers and staff would be happy to help.
