Image resize in text widget not working

  1. I have this table set up for my subscription buttons.

    <td>
    <img src="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/images/pub/feed-icon32x32.png" />
    </td>
    <img src="https://a248.e.akamai.net/passets.pinterest.com.s3.amazonaws.com/images/big-p-button.png" />
    </td>
    <td>
    <img src="http://badges.ravelry.com/square_32.png" />
    </td>

    When I add width="25" or any pixel amount, it does not resize. I had a similar table for my categories, and they would not resize either. I am following all conventions with html, and it is not working.

    My blog:

    How do I fix this?

    The blog I need help with is letsbeamie.wordpress.com.

  2. There are sometimes problems in resizing images that are being hotlinked from an outside source (ie not in your WordPress.com media files). If you can't find the correctly sized icon on Pinterest (32x32 pixels), try downloading it and then uploading it to your media library.

    There may be some loss of image quality if you don't resize it in a graphics program before uploading.

  3. Alright. I can do that. But why then would my sidebar category buttons not resize? They are uploaded to my media library and I've been using those links. They wouldn't resize until I put them in the image widget, although I would prefer to do it in one text.

  4. They are uploaded to my media library and I've been using those links.

    The images you linked to above are all being hotlinked from their relative sites. If you want to upload them to your Media Library, you need to right click and save them to your hard drive first. Otherwise, you are basically giving control to those sites whether your images will load on your site or not, as well as increasing the load time of your site should those sites be down. (We'll skip the moral discussion about hotlinking for the moment.)

    As far as your Category buttons (Food, Photos, Cool Things, etc.), there's no resize function in the Text widget, which I am assuming that you tried to use. However, in an Image widget, your can resize the image by entering the pixel dimensions there.

    Again, if you have access to a graphics program, best to size the image to the required dimensions before uploading to your Media Library.

    One trick you can use is to write all the text, including photos and links, in a draft post or page and then switch to the HTML Editor to copy and paste the code into a Text widget.

  5. To resize images in a text widget, you need to turn the image code to this:
    <img style="width:25px;" src="ETC ETC

  6. justjennifer: Not the images referred to in here, but other images that I have since given up on trying to resize in text widget. Those ones are uploaded to my media library, and wouldn't resize either in a text widget. The resizing in a text widget was working before I switched themes. I am currently using Chateau, I cannot remember my old theme.

    After reading html help, I was using this style of code:
    <br /> <td><br /> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/letsbeamie"><img src="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/images/pub/feed-icon32x32.png" width="25" /></a><br /> </td></p> <p>Yes I know in this example, the photo is not hosted in my library. But it wasn't before and it worked fine. </p> <p>I do not want to be using image widget for my category buttons, I'd much prefer them back in a text widget, as I had them before. But text widget will not allow for resizing. How do I fix this?

  7. Since you don't seem able to read my reply above, try this:

  8. This makes sense. Thank you. I will try with these hints.
