Image Resizing

I just saw an issue on my blog that is has been troubling me since a week. I resized all the images to 650 X 350 to fit my wordpress theme. It uploaded fine and also I got it checked with people who use IE and Firefox as a browser. But somehow my images sizes are now 810 X 343.
I used Adobe Image Ready to resize images and the images are still the same size on my computer.
Kindly note the first picture in my post was much larger than 810 X 343 and I read some older solutions that said that reducing from the corners does not reduce the picture quality but the picture quality has suffered.
Can someone tell me what need to be done to keep images from changing sizes after posting?

you could use thumbnail. send it to the post, and save it as links, not page. click on the picture and expand it to where you want.

I am trying that but image quality is the issue.
I am trying to understand how did wordpress re-size my images and in one of the images I see a border that I personally cropped off the image.

Just realized when I upload resized images of width and height 650 x 350 wordpress is taking them as 800 X 333.

This is really strange when I upload a 650 X 350 resized JPEG image wordpress takes it back to original size with superb quality results but if I upload a png with the same dimension then it reduces it to 400 x 142.
I used a Adobe ImageReady to resize the images. I don’t get what I am doing wrong because the images are fine on my computer. On wordpress its as if some ghost is infecting it.
