Image width

    My images are being compressed on my blog, meaning they are not wide enough, enough though I increased the width in under the simple option on the right hand side part of CSS. I upgraded so I would be able to fully be able to see my images displayed at the right size. Can you please help me correct this? Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is janinecollettephotography.wordpress.com.

    I realized I typed my message above too quickly. What I was trying to say, is this..

    My images are being compressed on my blog, meaning they are not wide enough, even though I increased the width under the simple option on the right hand side part of CSS. I upgraded so I would be able to see my images displayed at the right size. Is it the column or the Theme that is the issue? I'm using the Pretty Young Thing template.

    Can you please help me correct this? Thanks!

  4. I checked http://janinecollettephotography.wordpress.com/ and the horizontal images look full width to me. Note that if you update the content area width using CSS, you should also update the "Content Width" setting on the right side of the Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page. I checked on your site, and it looks like you have already figured it out because it's currently set to 1200 to match your CSS edit.

    Thanks for your response! I did change both and the images are still being compressed. If you drag a photo onto your desktop, you'll see that the files are much wider then what is being displayed on the site. Is in the side columns that are compressing the images??

  6. I just realized your theme is not actually 1200 pixels wide, and it looks like you tried to add some CSS to change the width but it isn't working. You're going to need to do a bit more work to customize the width of the Pretty Young Thing theme. Try replacing the CSS you have now with the following as a start and check to see if that helps the issue with the photo width you first posted about:

    #wrap,
    #header,
    #nav,
    #footer,
    #footer-content,
    .footer-widgets {
    	width: 1200px;
    }

    #inner,
    .full-width-content #content-sidebar-wrap,
    .full-width-content #content,
    .footer-widgets .wrap {
    	width: 1160px;
    }

    #nav {
    	text-align: center;
    }

    #nav .wrap {
    	display: inline-block;
    }

    #header {
    	background: url('http://janinecollettephotography.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/cropped-untitled-12.jpg') center repeat-x !important;
    }

    .footer-widgets-1, .footer-widgets-3, .footer-widgets-2 {
    	width: 32%;
    }
