Images in email notifications

  1. Are images not supported in email notifications for public or private blogs?

I am getting this note in my email notifications:

    * Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.

I am trying to set up a blog that is primarily pictures. My audience is less tech savvy (grandparents, uncles, aunts etc.) and would likely not even visit the blog often but just consume the content through email notifications. I would like to keep the blog private but is it possible to have images included in the email notifications?

I have the feed setting to be full post and not summary only as well.

The blog I need help with is brycepotterchin.com.

  2. All media files are included in the posts feed. See here http://brycepotterchin.com/feed/ Some email clients display images and some do not display them. Each email client has a different settings options.

  3. I had unlocked this blog to not be private. Was that the issue? No images in email notifications if it's a private blog ?

  4. Hi Jeff,

Yes, that is correct. If you have set your blog to be private then any images which were posted in a blog post will not be included in the email notification. Private blogs really are meant to be private, so including pictures in emails would be counter-intuitive!

    Sorry for the inconvenience . . .

  5. ok - I guess that makes sense. It'd be great to have the option to include images though. In theory if someone has been invited to read the blog and subscribes then it'd be nice to have the blog behave in the same way as a public blog to just those users.

  6. I completely understand your point of view and there is already a request in our "ideas queue" for a feature to do just what you're describing. Have an option to allow end-users to enable or disable images from being displayed in email notifications for private blogs. I will add this thread to that request as an additional vote, if you're OK with that.

  7. That'd be great. Thanks.

  8. Not a problem! I have done so and when the next review for roadmaps comes up this will be taken in to account.

Thanks for getting in touch, and I hope you have a great week. :)
