Images loading very slow on free WP blog w. standard theme

  1. Hi, thanks for your help!

I have a problem with extremely slow loading thumbnails on a free WP blog (hosted by WP) with the simplest looking theme I could find. It seems that the thumbnails are regenerated everytime the site is visited and the original images are large, so it takes forever and gives the visitor a bad experience.

Is this due to the theme or due to the fact that it's free and not hosted on my own server (would that solve the problem)?

Should I take the time to create my own thumbnails instead and use those to link to the larger images?

The Theme is called Clean Home by Mid Mo Design

    Thanks for your opinions!

The blog I need help with is scrob.tv.

  2. I'm using Firefox. I'm on a dedicated line DSL. and your blog loaded for me in 2 seconds flat. Are you sure you don't have a browser issue, a Flash issue, or a connection issue?
    Try this > http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
If your browser is outdated upgrade it here > http://browsehappy.com
You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Check for known issues with your ISP.

  3. Hi,
Here's my 2 cents. I loaded your site and the thumbnails all loaded perfectly. All I can assume is that you are experiencing this problem because of your connection. I wouldn't worry about it, although for peace of mind you could ask some friends to load the page for you and see how fast it loads for them.

  4. Hi, thank you very much for your replies.

I use Firefox 5.0.1 and thought since it's the latest version it couldn't be the problem but actually one thumbnail doesn't load at all in FF and does load in Safari, so it's probably a browser issue.

    Thanks for the tips!

I agree that it's a browser issue. You're welcome and best wishes with your blog. :)
