Importation didn't import all photos

  1. I imported my old site and wordpress imported some of the photos but not many of the older ones. WHat can I do?

The blog I need help with is sewjournal.com.

  2. I tagged this thread for Staff. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

  3. Thanks.

  4. Was your old site a WordPress site? or were you importing from a different platform?

    Looking forward to your reply.

  5. It was a wordpress site. And when I first imported it there were no photos at all. I exported it again and imported it again and same problem. Then one of your engineers helped me and the photos appeared. However, I didn't realise at the time that not all of the photos had appeared It is the oldest posts that don't have photos appearing. The problem now is that I although I still have the backup, I have made many post since so I can't just wipe it and start again.
    Thanks

  6. Could you please send me a link of one of the posts where this problem occurs? If you want I can delete all the posts prior to a certain date.

    Looking forward to your reply.

  7. Here is a link to one of the posts where the problem occurs. http://sewjournal.com/2010/10/01/progress-on-the-andalusian-tile-quilt/

I don't want you to delete any posts please. The first year of my blog I posted at least once per day. I still refer to some of those posts and I still get comments on some that's why I would like to try and fix this.

  8. The original image doesn't exist anymore. Therefore the importer isn't able to fetch that image and import it into your WordPress.com media library.

  9. That's a real problem for me then because when I exported the site I ticked the box to include all attachments and photos. At one stage when none of the images displayed I could see them in the media library but they weren't showing then one of you helped me to do something and they showed. So I'm at a loss to know what happened to these images.

This move back to WordPress.com has been a bit of a disaster for me. First I lose all my subscribers because I'm not allowed to import them and now I've lost half my photos. :(

  10. I just checked some of the other photos. The one I sent you doesn't appear to be there any longer but many others right fromt he first post in April 2010 are there. Take a look at this post.

The photo for this post is in the media library (if you filter for April 2010 you will see it at the top of the list) as are most of the "missing" photos. Some have been duplicated in the importation process for some reason but many haven't. Can you pleas me help to fix this for those photos that are there?
    Thanks.

  11. I've just reported the issue to our developers so they can take a closer look at this. I'll keep you informed.

    Thank you for your patience.

  12. Thanks so much

  13. Our developers are still working on a fix to repair your image links. I'll contact you once it's been resolved.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  14. Thnaks for updating me. I appreciate it.

  15. We were able to fix a lot things on your blog. Still there were several attachments that we were not able to import.

If you have a backup of the original site, it’s possible (no promise) that we could figure out a way to import the attachments.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  16. Hi there
Thank you it's looking so much better. How can I send you the last backup I had before I moved back here? I can't see anyway to send an attachment.

  17. You can send it to us by e-mail.

  18. I would if I had an email address for you but the one that comes to me is a dontoreply address and your email "link" has nothing in it. When I search the site, every contact link comes to a forum page. Which email address would you like w to send it to?
    Thanks

  19. I'm sorry. The link in my previous reply should work now :)
