Importing an image from the gallery to a post

I've been trying for days to get a chart saved in a word document to import into a post on my blog. I have read and tried every single suggestion in the forum regarding importing files, nothing is working and I'm about as frustrated as I've ever been. Please forgive me if this topic has already been addressed but I can't find it anywhere and I'm pretty well done looking.

Here's what I've done so far.

    (1) I created the file in Word and saved is as a .doc

    (2) I created a post and saved it as a draft. I opened the draft post and put the cursor where I want the chart to appear. I clicked on square with the shaded square inside it that says add an image when you move your cursor over it from the upload/insert line. I uploaded my file to the gallery. How do I get the image into the post?

The instructions say "To insert your image into the post, first click on the thumbnail to reveal a menu of options." Ok when I clink on the thumbnail of the file in the gallery nothing happens. I get a little plus sign with arrows at it's tips that allows me to move the file up and down the list of other files, but does nothing more than that and as there is only one file it's not all that entertaining. There is a blue "Show" to the far right of the file and when I clink on that all it does is show me the details of the file and let me change and save the title, caption, and description. There is no menu of options.

As a result the remaining directions "When you have selected the options you like, click "Send to Editor" and your image or file will appear in the post you are editing. " are completely useless to me as I can't even get to the Send to Editor menu option.

Any suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is pwceducationreform.wordpress.com.

  2. That is not how to insert your image as it stands; it looks like it's trying to use the whole Word doc. You need to save the chart as a JPG or some other IMAGE file, then upload that only. Then you'll find it'll be easy.

  3. And I would suggest saving the chart as a PNG rather than a JPG. The quality will be much better for graphic stuff and text.
