Importing Xanga archives

  1. I have already exported the Xanga XML files; when I attempt to import the XML files into WordPress, I am notified that the file has been successfully imported, but I can't find my old posts anywhere. Is this a common issue? Am I missing a step?

The blog I need help with is byee85.wordpress.com.

  2. I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    References:
Instructions on how to do a Xanga import are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-xanga/

Note that you must open the .zip export folder you get from Xanga and import ALL of the files included in the .zip folder individually before your import will show up on WordPress.com.

  3. Hi Timethief!

Thanks for the follow up; that may explain why nothing appears to show up - I have only been able to upload half of my files, so that may explain why I don't see my posts (I was under the assumption that posts would be uploaded once each file had been imported - I was not aware all files needed to be imported first).

It has been taking roughly 24 hours for an import to be processed/uploaded, so it will be a few more days before I can follow-up.

    Thanks again!

  4. It looks like all files in your Xanga export folder have not been imported. Once they have been, your posts should appear on your WordPress.com blog.
