I uploaded a photo, but have no idea where it went. I'd like to have a photo of myself on my page. How do I put it where I want it?

Is there a way to talk with a person by phone?

  6. There is no free phone support here.

The best way to use the forum is to do a search for your question, as it's likely someone has asked and someone has answered it in the past. If you can't find any related threads, create a new thread. One per question.

For now, I'll take these one at a time.

Font size: either learn CSS editing and then purchase the Custom Design upgrade OR you can hand-code every post in your blog. The problem with that is, if you change themes, you have to hand-edit every post in your blog. I knew a guy who hand coded white text and then switched to a theme with a white background. His text was invisible.

Photo: The photo is in your Media Library. Put it on an About page, in a Text widget in your sidebar, or in a post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/

Avatar: resize and crop the image before uploading it. You can also pull the crop tool around so it doesn't cut off the top of your head, but it may cut off the bottom then. Best to upload things exactly the right size.

Email address: put it in a text widget or About page and see also http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/18/eluding-email-address-spam-bots/

As for phone support, there is none available for free. I'm willing to do paid phone support, but I'm not cheap. It's going to be cheaper, faster, easier and more effective for you to learn to use the forums. You can generally find the answer you want in less than a minute.

  7. I've selected a theme, but I'd like to increase tfont size of the blog name on the banner. How do you do that?

I'm sorry but you cannot do that unless you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade and do the required CSS editing.

All images you upload are found in your Media Library.

I uploaded a photo in the avatar, but it's cropped off the top of my head. How do I correct that?

Prepare an image of the correct size and change it on your Gravatar account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/gravatars/

I have a special email address for viewers to contact me. How do I make sure that is on the page instead of my regular email?

Unless it's okay with you that your email address will be harvested by email address harvesting spam bots and sold to even more spammers, then do not place an email address on your blog. WordPress.com provides a secure contact form you can use > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

If you have not been using the step by step learn WordPress.com tutorial prepared by Staff and linked to on the bottom of your Admin page please do that.

If you have not locate the link on the bottom your Admin page to all support documentation please locate it and use the searchbox on that page. It provides results bot from the support docs and from forum threads. .

There is no phone support here. If there were then Staff would have an even larger backlog of requests from those who fail to locate the answers to questions that are found in the tutorial, in the support docs and in forum threads. But not to worry if you search and cannot locate answers as we Volunteers help bloggers on this support forum.

I"ve been through all your instructions and the tutorials. That's where I got into trouble. First the tutorial went along fine until I got to the page to post something. I didn't want to yet, so I went on (the tutorial said I could). That's where the page started to differ from the tutorial and I got into trouble.

I'm a published author (was a college English teacher) and researcher, so I did research the topics on the forum...and, no, they weren't all that helpful. In fact, when I would try to follow instruction, they just brought up new questions and on and on. I finally got to the point where I was so frustrated and afraid to do something that I couldn't take back that I put an email on the forum.

I know you were trying to be helpful with your answers, but here's the problem (old teacher that I am): You use a language I'm not familiar with. For instance, I have no idea what a bot is, and quite frankly I don't care. I just want to put my photo (yes, I finally found it) on the side bar. Believe me the 3-point-whatever is anything but helpful, if it even has anything to do with what I want. The other problem that nags at me is I'm thinking there are steps left out that maybe everyone just assumes I know.

I've been at this all weekend. It should have been up and running yesterday. I bet it would have been if there were telephone support. I bet my questions would have been answered in five minutes. If staff has such a backlog of written requests, they might want to think about phone support. It would save everyone a lot of time and frustration.

I guess my blog will just sit there until I find explicit instructions or someone who can talk me through it.
