Individual Photo Insertion

  1. Is there an easier way to add photos directly into a blog post? The image gallery or slideshows never work properly, they're cumbersome and NOT blog-viewer friendly (who wants to sit for ten minutes waiting for a slideshow to work properly when you can just SEE the blasted photos), and it's super tedious having to edit and add one at a time when you're adding multiple pictures to a post. As your formatting stands now, I have to add them to a gallery, save, and exit. Then I have to go into my post, find where I want a picture in the text, open the gallery, select the photo (which never saves in the order it was imported), insert it into the text, exit the gallery, and do it again.

It would be so much easier to be able to insert all photos just as photos (not as annoying slide shows) and then move and adjust them from there. Any chance that that may ever be an option? (It makes me miss blogger.)

I don't have any of the issues you refer to and I don't understand why you are saying we are compelled to have slideshows. I don't have any slideshows on my blogs.

Yes there is and it's the only one I use ever since I discovered it. I write to WP from time to time over the years suggesting they make multiple photo insertion a painless task but have yet to see anything done.

Use Windows Live Writer To Easily Insert Many Images Into Your WordPress.com Blog

Creating a photo gallery is mind boggling. They could learn a thing or two from the folks at JAlbum who create some of the most eye pleasing photo galleries I've seen to date and their app is pretty easy to use if you ignore parameters that don't matter to you.

Thank you so much for chiming in here with that useful information.

  5. You're welcome.

  6. Are you not using the Flash uploader with its bulk upload feature?

  7. Uploading multiple images to WordPress.com is straightforward. It is inserting all the images post upload that's extremely tedious. It would help a lot if the 'Add Media' window does not close after one image is inserted into post, so users can continue to insert more images, add captions, etc

  8. Ah, that's very true.

  9. Is there any reason that after I upload images to the library, my gallery window would dissapear? Its on one page but as soon as I did the above, the only possibilities I have are "from computer" "from URL" and "media library". I'm able to put pictures on the page, but I do want to initiate a slide show and am unable to because there is no gallery!
