Infuriating! Trying to figure out how much wordpress premium costs

  1. So I figured out where information about wordpress "premium" is (e.g. for using your own domain name)

    http://en.wordpress.com/products/

But can anyone tell me how much it costs?

And, for extra credit, set an eggtimer and see if you can figure this out by browsing wordpress.com in 5 minutes or less.

Why offer a premium product and not tell anyone how much it costs?

Researching moving a client from self-hosted wordpress to WP.com hosted, and can't tell him what it costs. INFURIATING!

  2. It's too bad you didn't find the support documentation. We free hosted by wordpress.com users can purchase various upgrades and each one is for one blog for one year. http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/upgrades/

    Before Upgrading
The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes and plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and must still abide by our Terms of Service accordingly.

Moreover, if you register a domain through WordPress.com, you will not be able to create any subdomains on it or add any additional records (such as mail records, CNAMEs, A records, etc.), and we automatically redirect requests to the WWW subdomain to the main domain address (i.e http://www.yourdomain.com becomes yourdomain.com).

I hope this helps you. :)

  3. With respect to your eggtimer approach, I'm not sure if you are aware that this is a peer support forum, and that it normally takes about 12 hours to receive an answer to a post on any blogging support forum. As you are being paid by a client to set up a free and free hosted by wordpress.com blog, perhaps dealing directly with Staff may be a better approach for you to take. If that's your preference than here's the link. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  4. You can also find it quite quickly via google, but "wordpress premium" is not something that exists as an offering, therefore it won't return meaningful results. "Wordpress.com domain upgrade" will give you your answer in one second.

  5. still no answer about how much it costs. it would be very helpful to find a page that lists the upgrades and the cost per upgrade. i guess this won't happen, ever. why bother staff for an info that could be a click away?

  6. Because staff are the only people who write that documentation. When they change the prices of things, they don't tell us.

WordPress VIP, by the way, costs $600 to set up and about $600 per month. If that's what you're looking for.

  7. @canton and @neocnus, please visit the Upgrades tab of your dashboard to see pricing for all WordPress.com upgrade features.

  8. There are 2 ways to locate the upgrades and the prices.

I provided one of them in my first comment click http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/upgrades/ and then click the link for any individual upgrade.

tellyworth provided the second way > Dashboard > Upgrades

  9. @canton, I agree with you that the prices for each upgrade could and should be easier to find.

But you might try being easier to get on with. If you have clients interested in WordPress, wouldn't it pay to be on good terms with Automattic and with the people who respond in the support forums?
