Inserting Videos to Posts!!!

  1. So untill today I have always been able to upload youtube videos directly to my posts. All of a sudden today its just posting links. I dont want Links, I want the actual videos in with my content. How do I fix this ASAP!!!!

The blog I need help with is homocouture.com.

  2. Please be aware that posting the same thing into multiple threads is not going to change anything. You are simply frustrating the Volunteers posting after you to tell you Staff is ware of this issue and working to correct it.

  3. it was not intentional. web browser failed. thank you

  4. Thanks so much for clearing that up. I do appreciate it. :) I'm sorry you were inconvenienced by this. Staff have been upgrading the whole platform to WordPress 3.3 and there are two issues with media (videos and background images) they are now fixing.

  5. Yep, like Timethief mentioned we're on this. Right now the links are just inserting but we're working on restoring the old and correct behavior.

  6. This is all fixed up now.

  7. No it's not!!

I still cannot link hence the link button is gone!!

  8. the link button is gone!!

Which link button are you referring to? Is it a media link or not? Will you please expand?

Long shot: If you mean that the chain icon in the Visual editor used for making links in text is grayed out, then select the text you want to link to first with your mouse and then click the chain link icon.

  9. Now, it's back.

I don't know what happened, but my dashboard is completely different and when I try to add a new post the functions have all changed.

    Not happy.

  10. @akg1
This whole WordPress.com platform is being upgraded to the newest version of WordPress and you will see lots of changes on your dashboard like fly-out menus.

  11. Thanks!

  12. Great.

  13. For those of you wondering where the Add Video button went, see this: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/11/17/drag-drop-media-uploader-flyout-menus/

  14. Ahh ... you mean these lol : D

  15. hi when will the embedding of video be fixed? only links are appearing up to now ;( please help wordpress admin. thank you, need to post something urgent.

  16. @pinkyreg: If only the link appears, then make sure you break the link while in the visual editor. Otherwise, try one of these instructions? (find the video provider - choose on the right hand side):

  17. Yes hello I seem to be having the same problem with videos and it is definitely not working correctly on my blog. When I go to add media -> From URL -> Audio, Video, other file and insert the URL and title I only get the link in my post when I would really prefer to get the video image inserted where people can just watch from my post instead of opening up another tab... Is that still getting fixed??

  18. What exact URL are you trying to insert?

  19. I'm trying to copy the code from their band page and from their Vimeo account so trying these two:

    http://bcove.me/67iza0wk

    <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/28851031?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0" width="400" height="225" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

    Both aren't working

  20. iFrames NEVER work here.

You need to check the WordPress.com shortcodes to ensure you're adding it in the correct way.

  21. hi, just discovered that embedding youtube videos is now working here thru insert media - from url - click video route! happiness! :)

  22. i mean Add Media (instead of insert) :)

  23. If you stick with the shortcode, it will never fail.

  24. The youtube shortcode fails when viewing the blog in Google Reader. The embedded videos appear as thumbnail images instead. When clicked, they open a new browser tab to the original blog post, where the user must then locate the video again and click to start. In other words, it takes my viewers 2 extra clicks to watch any of my videos through Reader, which is what 90% of my readership uses. Is there a way to "opt out" of using the youtube shortcode? I would rather use the iframe code in this case, which seems to work just fine for me.
