Installing a purchased theme?

Hi -- we have a purchased WP Theme. I need to install to my account/blog. How do I do this? It doesn't appear to want to allow it. If not, I may need a refund for my blog out here. I thought this would be the place to have the blog... but not if I can't use the theme I've already purchased.

please help ASAP, I need to get this resolved.

    thanks,
    Kim

The blog I need help with is ronmorrisfitness.wordpress.com.

  2. You will need to get a refund if you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog like the one linked to your username. This is why. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

On free hosted wordpress.COM blogs we can only use the themes which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and made available to us here. > Appearance > Themes and no others. We cannot edit either themes or templates on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

If you wish to have complete control over a blog, the ability to upload themes and plugins, and to edit themes and templates then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.

  3. If you are referring to purchasing a premium theme from WordPress.com for a free hosted WordPress.com blog then activating a Premium theme is similar to activating a Free theme. From your dashboard menu navigate to Appearance → Themes and click on the Premium link. There you’ll see a familiar grid of all the available Premium themes. You can preview how any theme will look on your site by clicking the preview link or just click the Purchase and Activate link (where you’ll also see the price for each theme). Once you’ve clicked Purchase & Activate you’ll be presented with an upgrade screen where you can purchase the theme.

I've already got the theme and don't want to purchase another one.

How do I apply for a refund?

  5. Please clarify what the URL starting with http:// for the blog in question is. Then we will know which software you are referring to. It's either a free hosted WordPress.com blog or it's a WordPress.org install.

Who did you purchase the theme from? If it's a premium theme you purchased from WordPress.com then you can use it on a free hosted WordPress.com blog like the one linked to your username.

If it's a third party theme for a WordPress.org install then you cannot use it on the free hosted WordPress.com blog like the one linked to your username.

  6. Hello!
I bought a theme for http://hefritzsche.wordpress.com/. As I now want to host the blog myself, I understood that I have to buy the theme again for "external" use and therefore, I would like to apply for a refund of the wordpresshosted theme. Could you please arrange that?

  7. @hefritzsche-

If a Premium theme doesn’t work out we offer a full refund up to 30 days from your purchase.
If your refund request is within the 30-day period, you can ask for it yourself from the Store tab in your site's Dashboard, or by using the Support contact form. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  8. Hello hefritzsche,
I see that you have purchased Headlines within the 30 day period. Please verify that you would like us to refund your purchase and unsubscribe you from the theme and we will do so.

  9. Yes, please, if you could do that for me that'd be perfect. Thanks!

  10. I have canceled and refunded your theme as requested.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

  11. Well done - thank you very much!

  12. You're welcome!

  13. I purchase the premium theme Photography for my WordPress.com blog to which I have also transfered my domain name which I pay for annually, I cannot seem to get the look the this theme is supposed to have, what's going on ?

Your theme is a premium theme and we Volunteers answering questions on this forum have no knowledge of how they are designed to operate. When you purchased your premium theme what came with that purchase was support directly from the theme designer in the Premium Theme Support Forum. There is a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard.
