Integrating standalone wordpress with wordpress.com

  1. I have a standalone wordpress blog, I would like to have a blog on wordpress.com that is a replica of my standalone. Is there a way to feed articles fro my standalone to wordpress.com.

If feeding/sync'ing is not possible, how about just having my articles show under wordpress.com tags?

  2. The closest you could get to that would be to put the RSS feed for the standalone blog in the sidebar of the blog here. There is no way to automatically duplicate posts that I know of, and it isn't a good idea from a search engine standpoint. Search engines will see the duplicate content and drop the page rank of both not knowing which is the original.

  3. Thanks you,
If I don't duplicate the article, If I just post a one paragraph summary put a link to the original post will that harm the search engine ranking?

  4. No, that should be fine. The search engines would typically see that as a quote.

  5. Um, what about the TOS? I understood that blogs that existed simply to feed another site were not allowed. (OP is trying to get into the wp.com tag pages.)

  6. @vivian, I hadn't thought of that, good catch and yes, it would be a violation of the TOS I'm sure.

  7. I didnt read the TOS, who does anyway.. I guess I cannot use wordpress.com then. Thanx
