Intermittent problems with editing posts and uploading photos

  1. I´m having trouble adding or editing posts (adding photos, tags etc). This only started during the past few days, but the problem is that sometimes it works OK and then without warning - it doesn´t work. The buttons just dont work when pressed ie when you try to add tags, or edit the time to publish, or insert a photo, nothing happens.

I´ve tried logging out, closing my browser, clearing my cache, changing themes, but still having trouble. Any ideas?

The blog I need help with is eastofmalaga.wordpress.com.

  2. 1. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

    2. Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

    3. Which browser and version of it are you using?

    4. Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here. http://browsehappy.com/

    5. You can also use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

  3. Thanks for your help @timethief. I just wanted to check that the problem wasn´t caused by the recent WordPress update. Everything has worked perfectly until the past few days. I haven´t had chance to try to log on from a different location yet, but I can do that shortly to see if my problem lies with my ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

My browser and Flash are both up to date, though I have now checked the box to use https:// instead of http:// following your advice.

    Thanks again.

  4. Everything is up to date with me, and I have super-fast internet. But lately, WordPress has been noticeably slow for me, especially when creating or editing a post. Not with other sites, just my WP site.

  5. Me too: right now I cannot upload pictures for my Spanish blog. I tried to do what I did before when hampered by the same hitch: I uploaded the photos for my English blog and then transfered them via URL to the Spanish blog.
Now I was able to upload the pictures for that English blog, but then could not transfer them to the Spanish blog.
Also, very often, in the morning I cannot see the stats of the day before. This has been like this for about two weeks.
But as Sweetpeepsi said, the problem is intermittent

  6. Just now, one hour later, I was able to insert two pictures via URL from the media library of one blog in a new post of the other blog, but a third attempt for yet another picture failed.

same here. I dont get any response when i click the upload media button.

  8. I'm having a problem with pictures in my blog. On the editing page, they show up ok, but when I post them, they show as white boxes w/a red X. This just started, I've been putting pics in several of my posts, but the last 2 I've had a problem with the first couple pics, but the last one is ok. :(

  9. Tell us what browser and version you're using when you do this. It's important to establish a pattern.

  10. I'm using IE8 version 8.0.6001.18702

The next couple of posts the pictures were fine.

  11. I'm having problems too, since a few days back... The button for uploading photos doesn't work (nothing happens when I click on it) and no drafts are saved automatically. The stats don't load very well either. I use the latest version of Firefox, just updated it a week ago.

  13. My ISP is RoadRunner, broadband, cable.

Oh, btw, they're ok now...the pics have been corrected.

  14. @cafinny
    Thanks for the update.
