Thanks in no small part to some of the suggestions from WordPress Forum users (thank you very much) i have finalised the design of my blog. For now, at least, as i don't think blog design is ever really finished. So please check it out

Overall, I do like your layout. I'm not sure on the background, but it's better than nothing. Have you considered categorizing your posts? You could easily categorize then into genre.
