Invalid Feed (enclosures)

  1. Facebook won't import my blog ("Import Failed. We couldn't find a feed using the URL you provided."). I ran the blog through a Feed Validator:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcontrast2.wordpress.com%2Ffeed%2F#l462
    http://contrast2.wordpress.com/feed/

It said the feed was valid, but that there were 3 issues that could cause compatibility issues with some apps.

line 28, column 135: Unregistered link relationship: search [help]

    ... rdpress.com/osd.xml" title="Contrast" />

line 462, column 0: item contains more than one enclosure (6 occurrences) [help]

    <enclosure url="http://www.trinitylectures.org/MP3/John_Frame_and_Cornelius_ ...

line 718, column 0: content:encoded should not contain object tag (4 occurrences) [help]

    <p><object width="614" height="370"><param name="movie" value="http://www.yo ...

I don't see any way to fix the enclosure problem (if it is really a problem) since it has to do with the RSS file formatting and not with my html formatting.

    Can anyone provide any insight?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is contrast2.wordpress.com.

  2. W3C (the World Wide Web Consortium) feed validator says your feed validates 100%. with no issues.

Try again at facebook but leave off the trailing slash. There has been a heated debate about whether there should be a trailing slash or not, and some places are set up to not recognize the trailing slash.

  3. Thanks for the tip. I love a heated debate.

However, I gave it a shot both with and without a / and it still doesn't work.

    Any other ideas :/

  4. Make sure you are using http:// at the beginning and not feed:// (even though it resolves to feed:// ).

  5. I'm having the same problem with facebook http://tpepub.wordpress.com/feed with and without the slash at the end. The validator says that it is valid, but inoperability may occur because of line 28:

    28. <atom:link rel="search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" href="http://tpepub.wordpress.com/osd.xml" . . . />

I researched this a bit and from what I understand the rel="search" should be "self". Can I change this anywhere?

  6. We don't have access to any of that. You would have to contact staff directly on this.
