Invitations and adding users from community

  1. I want to have a private blog. I have invited several individuals to join. It appears that they go through the registration process, but are not given access to the blog.

Is this a three step process:

    1. Invite the individuals
    2. The invitee creates an WordPress Account if one is not already created
    3. Add user from the community

I was hoping that the last step would not be necessary. Instead, the invitation would add the user to the community automatically once the account is setup. This does not appear to be the case.

    Thanks for your help.

The blog I need help with is bsat64.wordpress.com.

  2. You are correct; that is not the case.

You can only Add Users who have existing WordPress.com accounts. Thus, if they do not have one, they must create one. This is the only way to authenticate the individuals.
