Is it possible to embed Facebook posts to WordPress.com?

  1. How to embed Facebook posts into WordPress.com blogs
When I copy and past the Facebook code into WordPress all I see is the code. The image of the Facebook post never appears. I read on a WordPress blog recently that it was possible to embed Facebook posts into WordPress.com blogs. If so, what am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is amariesilver.wordpress.com.

  2. What you want to do is not possible on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. See here http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/facebook-to-wordpress-1?replies=3#post-1417200

  3. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/facebook-to-wordpress-1?replies=3

It may be possible, but using your WP.com blog as an aggregator will get it suspended.

  4. See the types of blogs allowed and not allowed on this page please > http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

Blogs that violate our advertising policy or fall into one of the following categories are not allowed on WordPress.com:

Scraper blogs: Blogs that take content from other blogs and re-publish it without permission (this is sometimes called scraping). If a blog contains stolen content, it’s gone!

    ...
Automated blogs: Blogs that are generated by computers, including randomly generated blogs, blogs that re-publish press releases, marketing material, search engine results, link dumps or any other mass-produced content.

  5. The reason why I asked is because there is a WordPress.com blog posted yesterday with instructions on how to do this. By all appearances, tnis person was able to embed a Facebook post from their page for the demonstration. When I tried wasn't able to. I definitely don't want to violate any rules. While I can't vouch for how other people would use embedded facebook posts I only I intended to embed my own Facebook posts.

  6. Well, you could ask for assistance in the comments on that blog, but we can't vouch that your blog will be safe. I can't count the number of blogs I've seen suspended for autoposted material.

  7. I did ask for help. The author didn't know why it wasn't working. As far as auto posting goes, there was no mention of using your blog to do that. Thanks for your help everyone. Guess if I'm understanding this correctly, it's not possible to embed Facebook posts into your blog (unless you're using a paid hosting site) and doing so could constitute a violation of WordPress's rules. Is this correct?

  8. Automatically feeding in your Facebook (or other external) posts to your WP.com blog is banned here, yes. That is autoposting.

  9. @amariesilver - we're seeing the same issue as you (only code is visible) when following the steps as outlined by WordPress. Hopefully it gets sorted soon!

  10. @timethief - thanks. We're working with instructions from that page and pretty sure it's the one that amariesilver is referencing as well. One added twist is that we operate a Facebook page vs just a profile like most people have. I switched over into my personal FB profile account just to check and it works fine based on the instruction provided. The problem is that when I copy over the URL for a post on our FB *page,* all I get is code when I click on "preview."

  11. Wow - auto-posting Facebook spam - great leap forward. I have some friends that are on Facebook and they joke about everyone on their "friends" something or another getting everything the dribble about.
