Is there a one click fix all 'read more' setting?

  1. Basically I'd like to just change a single setting so that all the posts on my home page have the 'read on' 'read more' 'cont. reading' whatever button. Possible?

The blog I need help with is aboringread.wordpress.com.

  2. Nevermind I found it. For anyone who drifted in here off the search monsters;

Left hand side of dashboard, Settings tab, Reading subtab. Click the Summary button next to "For each article in a feed, show".

    search food
wordpress blog minimized minimised post text

Add more if you can think of any please.

  3. Hmmm seemed I spoke too soon, bugger it.

  4. On the Settings > Reading page we can (1) set the number of post to display on the front page and (2) set the number of posts in wither summary or full post format in the RSS Feed for posts (entries). This does not result in excerpts of posts on the front page of your blog.

The instructions for inserting "the more tag" into each post are are found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ This will result in excerpts of posts on the front page of your blog.

Note that themes that can be set to automatically display only front page excerpts for all post throughout the blog are Fusion, Hemingway and Inuit Types.

  5. I have summary clicked, but it still doesn't cut down my posts to the 55 word limit. Do I have to manually insert a more tag in every post in order to get the desired effect?

I guess I'll just start doing that from now on..

  6. Yes.

  7. Why thank you timethief, much appreciated!

  8. Hello again and you're welcome. :)

  9. The summary setting at settings > reading is only for the RSS feed. It does not affect the posts displayed on the blogs directly.

  10. lol

Oh thanks sacredpath, I must have read that so many times and it never even clicked.

  11. You are welcome, and not a problem, it happens to all of us.
