Is there a plugin for creating custom rating systems?

    Ok, I'm after a plugin that will allow me to go beyond the whole - thumbs up/thumbs down or star rating systems that seem to characterize the concept of rating a post. What if I wanted to choose from three different words, like 'dumb' or 'clever' or 'weird.' Scores for each could then be tied to the user and display on his/her profile to help characterize them in the eyes of other users. At the moment it's thumbs up - good, or thumbs down - bad, which is quite limited.

    The blog linked to your username is a free hosted WordPress.com blog. Yes we do have rating systems you can enable. No the systems we have will not so as you describe.

    No you cannot install any plugins at all. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins.

    so if I had a wordpress.org page I could install a plugin? Do you know of any? Thinking of getting one.

    1) yes
    2) we don't make recommendations for WordPress.org here; you have to go to their own forums. I'm sure they will have some for you to choose from: the plugins over there are rated with stars, and you can read the reviews.

    I'm not acquainted with any but there are plugins galore for WordPress.org installs which we do provide support for here on the WordPress.com support forums. I suggest that you search here and the internet.
