Is there a simple way to udpate your blog via text messages

  1. All,

Either I just haven't found it, or its not possible, but I would like to be able to update my blog by using my cell phone text message capability. I have heard about this on Twitter but would rather not use twitter, and would rather go directly to my wordpress blog.... what have I missed.

    Thanks,

    Steve

The blog I need help with is stevehastings.wordpress.com.

  2. You can go to http://m.wordpress.com on your mobile and there you can post.

  3. Technically, using m.wordpress.com isn't text messaging, as it uses the mobile web browser.

And actually, the answer depends on whether your blog is hosted here at WordPress.COM or is self-hosted using the WordPress software. If you don't know the difference, there's two stickies at the top of the forum that will help explain "8 Things" and "COM vs ORG".

  4. Lorawow, thats not exactly sending a text message from my phone and having it post on my blog. appreciate the idea and my have to resort to using this.... Looking for simpler...

  5. @stevehastings-again, it depends on whether your blog is hosted on WordPress.COM or not.

  6. Justjenn,

My blog is hosted at wordpress.com, not a .org, nor self hosted. Can you point me to a way I can send a text message and have it post to my blog?

    Thanks,

    Steve

  7. Sadly, I don't think there is any way of texting to COM blogs. Our present choices are via email by using Posterous, or using the mobile web interface, as Lora pointed out.
