   We offer free meditation to the public. We are computer-challenged. We are interested in a simple, low-profile website, capable of being accessed by anyone doing a routine search of Google. This website should describe our meditation group, perhaps include some photos, our personal data, plus contact information. Blogging on this website would be a secondary goal for us. Can we do this with WordPress.com? Thank you! Tim and Joan.

   Only you can decide if it's right for you, but I don't see why not. It sounds like you want a website more than a blog, and that can be done here. See this:

   also, it would help you to know how to use the site. So see this:

   http://learn.wordpress.com/

   Be aware, though, that if you're going to rely on people coming to you via Google searches, it can take several weeks before a new blog or website will get noticed.
