Issues in Upgrading to Premium

  1. Hi

We have acquired an account today and want to upgrade our account to Premium. Whenever we try to upgrade online, the website does nothing.

How do we upgrade our account to Premium online?

In case of any queries, please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

  2. It does not appear that you have a blog yet. I strongly advise you not to purchase any upgrades until you have worked with the blog for at least a couple of weeks to make sure you can get what you want out of it.

You cannot buy upgrades if you don't have a blog.

  3. Hi Raincoaster

Thanks for the information. Actually we want to map our existing subdomain to our wordpress account. So in this case we should set up a blog site first at WordPress as well?

In case of any queries, please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

  4. Yes, you will need to register a blog here in order to map a subdomain to it. The domain needs to connect with an actual blog. From the dashboard of that blog you can buy upgrades, but as I suggested, play with the software before buying any upgrades. We have limitations here that they don't have with WordPress.ORG blogs.

  5. One more question please, our subdomain is http://blogs.aku.edu/SONAM. And we do not want to change it. So can we set up a blog website in WordPress and assign it the mentioned domain?

In case of any queries, please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

  6. I will have to ask staff to answer that. I don't think it can be done, but I'm not sure.

  7. @auxclass is correct. You will also need access to the domain to create a CNAME record, and once that is done, because this is an .edu domain, we will have to manually create the subdomain mapping for you after you have purchased the premium bundle.

You will also need to create a blog in order to purchase the upgrade and for me to set up the mapping.

  8. Hi Auxclass and Jackie

First of all, thanks a lot for providing us such a valuable information.

Let me specifically explain our organization's vision so that both of you can suggest us something relevant and feasible.

We want to setup three blogs in total down the road say six months from now. We also want to start with one blog first and then move to others. For this, we have decided that we should have URLs for our blogs like http://blogs.aku.edu/SONAM, http://blogs.aku.edu/University and http://blogs.aku.edu/Hospital.

So please let us know what solution you have by keeping in mind our vision as mentioned above.

In case of any queries, please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

  9. Because of the way WordPress.com is structured, we cannot map the URLs that you listed to WordPress.com blogs.

You could have URLS such as SONAM.aku.edu and university.aku.edu, however.

If this is not workable, you may need to host these blogs on a different hosting provider that allows you to have this kind of structure.

  10. Thanks Jackie for this complete information.

one more thing. Can we remove "category base" after buying wordpress premium? if not, then do we have any other option available to remove this "category" word?

In case of any queries, please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

  11. You do not need to use categories on your blog.

Here is our support page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/

If you wish to remove the category listings and other meta information entirely from your posts, you can do so by modifying the CSS with the Custom Design upgrade. Note that you will need to have that upgrade active on each site: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
