Jumping Pages On WordPress sites -?

  1. Hello all. I've been experimenting with different WP themes tonight, looking for something only slightly fancier than my perfectly easy to use Kubrick (old) default, but have been tripped up and annoyed by a few small things. One of those annoyances are constantly jumping pages, by which I mean the pages literally jumps up and down, resizing for some reason. And a scroll bar appears on the bottom of the page on every other jump. It doesn't seem to matter whether I resize the page manually (via ctrl + scroll wheel). Anyone care to clue me in about this? Thanks in advance.

The other annoyance - which isn't fair because this leads to another topic, still... - is that so many of the discussions about themes I look at are closed to comment. I don't really get that, which may just mean that I don't get that and that's my problem. ;-) Go ahead and tell me. I'm a big boy.

    Thanks. Later...

The blog I need help with is arrby.wordpress.com.

Which browser and version of it are your using please?
Have you tried logging out of wordpress.com, clearing your browser cache and cookies and logging in again?
Have you tried using another browser?
You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of flash.

How are you accessing the internet and wordpress.com?
The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. There may be problems with your web host. Check for known issues with your ISP and/or with your web host.
If none of those work for you then please file a support ticket with Staff and be sure to include all the details re: the answer to the questions I have asked in it.

  3. oops! Please ignore this sentence "There may be problems with your web host." and this phrase above > "and/or with your web host."

  4. Hey, Thanks for that! I've got stuff to do right now. When I'm able to, I'll dig into this and report back. Later...

  5. Well, I'm using the latest version of Firefox (3.6.13). I deleted it anyway, downloaded it from Mozilla and reinstalled it. I also cleaned out the history and cookies. My flash is good. I'm connecting to the net via cable (Rogers overpriced hi speed lite) without proxies. I also checked my display properties (I'm using nvidia) and updated (I assume) the drivers for it. It seemed to choke on that, telling me that it couldn't do it, but looping and sending the message cascading, till it stopped (possibly because I hit alt ctrl delete) and then seemed to successfully update.

I still get jumping pages, but only on WordPress! I'm not tech savvy, so I don't know whether I really want to pursue this further. It looks like I'll have to live with it.

  6. To be clear, The jumping problem doesn't occur on all WP pages.

  7. I'm sorry but I have no other help to offer you.

  8. That's okay. I'm more than satisfied with the great help I've received from the WP community in the time I've been on WP. You can't win them all.

  9. Give us links to the pages that are jumping around for you so that we can take a look and hopefully help narrow down the issue.
