just transfered domain, still redirecting to wordpress.com

  1. A few months ago, I purchased the domain thegeekmates.com from wordpress.

Today, I transferred that domain to another register. I installed wordpress.org on my new host, but every time I try to go to http://www.thegeekmates.com/wp-admin , it redirects me to https://thegeekmates.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

Why is it doing this? What can I do to change this?

The blog I need help with is thegeekmates.com.

  2. I can get to your new log-in just fine

    http://www.thegeekmates.com/wp-login.php

It can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to migrate across the internet and due to caching issues you will be the last one to see the changes -

  3. Well, in a new browser, on a different computer, that link still redirects me to http://thegeekmates.wordpress.com/wp-login.php ... so I doubt it's a caching issue on my end.

I've done this before about a year ago with another website, and didn't have this problem.

    Got any more advice?

    Patiently waiting,

  4. Your ISP and other routers can also have caching issues not just on your PC - these things just take a while to sort out -

Every site I have transferred has had a period of time that I could not access it but others could -
