JustGiving in sidebar

  1. JustGiving.com have just announced a new widget which you can use on web pages to show your fundraising progress.

The example they give is http://www.curryonrickshaw.com/ which shows the justgiving widget in the sidebar and this is a wordpress blog by the looks of it.

I can't figure out how to do the same with my own wordpress blog. Can someone help me?

Basically, Justgiving ask you to put some code on your site along the lines of:-

    <iframe src="http://www.justgiving.com/rss/GetFundraisingPage2.asp?eventgivinggroupid=xxxxxx" width="195px" height="322px" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

But I can't enter this as the iframe tag isn't allowed.

Can anyone tell me how to this?

  2. whilst Curryonrickshaw.com Is a wordpress blog, it's not a wordpress.com blog.

As you have discovered, iframes are not permitted on the wordpress.com service.

I don't think there's a way round this but you might want to converse with justgiving.com and see if they can do anything.

Along with iframes we cannot put any javascript, flash or anything that requires embedding.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Collin

  3. I was thinking that maybe you could put it into an RSS feed widget since it looks like their using RSS to give out the information but it didn't work for me. Told me that it couldn't find a valid RSS feed at that address.

That's the only think I could think of right off.

  4. I'm also fundraising (but not with Justgiving). Does anyone know of a way I can chart my progress in the sidebar?

  5. A text widget that you manually change every now and again would probably be your best bet.

  6. Without knowing what code you're trying to use, all we can do is guess. :)

  7. Your guess is as good as mine! ;)

I am a complete novice when it comes to anything IT related, so am fumbling my way around at the moment.

Was hoping someone had used a similar tool/software/code (?) and could point my in the right direction.

I suppose a manual update will do the job.
