On Twitter's buttons page they offer a "Large button" version that I would love to use. I am happy to see WordPress has shortcodes for us to use but would be even happier if the large button was an option. Is that a possibility?

Let me tackle this again. An icon is an image and you can link your twitter username to any image and display it in a text widget.

Yes, I am. Those are great they just don't include the large format button that Twitter offers.

I'm not sure what's going on here, if timetheif is having some issues with the forum or something. I noticed someone added a bunch of tags to this, including "the buttons are exactly the same size." It would appear that way if you do not select the "Large button" option as I mentioned.

Make sure "Follow" is selected under "Choose a button"
Under "Button options" select "Large button"
This will make the preview to the right the larger size I am referring to. It is 20 pixels tall I believe.

Yes, my plan B was to just use an image and link it to my Twitter account, however there is more functionality to the Follow buttons provided by Twitter and translated into WP sourcecode on this page. Namely, those don't just open a new page to your Twitter account, it actually signs the clicker up as a follower automatically and opens a neat little pop-up rather than directing away from your blog.
All of that is just nice and not necessary, so I can just use a regular old image. I still think it would be very cool of WP to include the large format button. They have all the other variations of the official Twitter button (like whether or not you want your username or follower count displayed), so I'm not sure why the size choice was omitted.
