   Even though I changed the setting to recent posts on by blog, the posts from 2009 show up first not the latest post, how can I fix this?

   The post that's appearing at the top is marked as "Sticky".
   Could you try:

   1. Go to the edit screen of the post
   2. Uncheck the box next to "Stick this post to the front page" in the Publish module
   3. Update the post.

   That should "unstick" the post from the top of the front page.
